A purposeful and well lived life ended with the passing of Deacon Luis Donaire, Jr., on Thursday, January 22, 2026, the beloved son of the late Luis Donaire, Sr., and Gladys Cheverez of Bronx, New York. Damian worked as a mental health counselor who was uniquely equipped to aid in the lives of many patients. His co-workers called him the people person who could light up a room with his presence. It was due to his positive attitude and jovial spirit that continued to make a difference in the lives of those who came in contact with him. His positive attitude landed him a job as an assistant manager for Great Wolf Lodge and Resort in the Poconos. This is a true testament to the indelible mark he leaves behind. Damian had a keen eye for fashion and an undeniable obsession with shoes. He had a passion for cooking and was a devoted dog lover. On Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 10:25am, Deacon Luis Damian Donaire, Jr., would gain his wings of eternity at age 65. Damian was a fantastic husband, father, son, brother, an uncle, a friend and above all, a man of God. He was a confidant for many because loyalty was a principle he embodied. His words of encouragement and realness will be missed but not forgotten. Let this untimely loss encourage us to forgive others, love endlessly, and grow closer in our relationships with Christ. Matthew 24: 36 reads, “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the father knows”. It’s time for us to get ourselves together.
